The .NET Compact Framework can be downloaded free from the Microsoft Download Centre. You may receive the notification "This application may not work correctly because it was designed for an older version of Windows Mobile." - don't worry, Visual Studio 2003 designs things for Windows Mobile 2002, but they work fine on Windows Mobile 2003 SE (that's the software we use). Visual Studio 2005 (currently in BETA) should support the newer versions.

Try Calligrapher a replacement for Transcriber. This software is not free, and McTedo Programming is in no way involved with the writers. A trial is available for free download from the site. Handwriting recognition, even joined up is excellent, and the calculator is improved. It is rumoured they wrote the original Transcriber...
